About Jaguar XK150

After the release of the Jaguar XK120 and Jaguar XK140, which were quite similar, the need arose to continue the XK series with something new, both in terms of performance and design.

The new model, named the Jaguar XK150, was unveiled on May 22, 1957, and stood out from its predecessors with numerous interior and exterior changes:

- A complex, curved, one-piece windshield;

- Raised and more streamlined wing lines;

- A dashboard and the entire front section under the windshield were finished in leather (early Jaguar XK150 DHC versions partially used aluminum);

- The interior space was expanded thanks to redesigned wings;

- A redesigned radiator grille and hood;

- Increased glass surface area in the cabin;

- Many other smaller refinements.

Initially, the model was available in two body styles: Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) and Jaguar XK150 Drop Head Coupe (DHC). In 1958, a third body style, Jaguar XK150 Open Two Seater (OTS), was added. Each body style had some minor differences.

The first cars were equipped with 3.4-liter engines (190 hp, B-Head cylinder head) in the standard version and 3.4-liter engines (210 hp, B-Head cylinder head with enlarged exhaust valves) in the "Special Equipment" version. In 1958, the 3.4-liter engine with the "S" prefix (250 hp) was introduced. The chassis was nearly identical to the previous model in the series, but disc brakes became standard.

The Jaguar XK150 was produced until October 1961, with 9,406 units built across various body types and engines:

- OTS: Right-hand drive – 93, Left-hand drive – 2,174.

- FHC: Right-hand drive – 1,369, Left-hand drive – 3,096.

- DHC: Right-hand drive – 663, Left-hand drive – 2,010.

Jaguar XK150 Overview

Introduced on May 22, 1957, the Jaguar XK150 was a modern evolution of the XK series, featuring a curved one-piece windshield, streamlined design, and a more spacious, leather-trimmed interior. Initially available as Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) and Drop Head Coupe (DHC), the Open Two Seater (OTS) joined in 1958. Powered by 3.4-liter engines ranging from 190 hp to 250 hp “S” versions, the XK150 also introduced standard disc brakes. Produced until October 1961, it remains a standout classic in Jaguar’s legacy.
